SkiStar news for the 2024/25 winter season: Snow reliability, unbeatable skiing and direct access from London to Norway's and Sweden's largest ski resorts

Preparations for the 2024/25 winter season are well underway at SkiStar’s destinations in Sweden and Norway. SkiStar saw a significant increase in British skiers across SkiStar’s resorts last winter, and the guests enjoyed reliable skiing conditions throughout the season. With the British skiers in mind, SkiStar introduce several exciting updates this coming season.

A long ski season contributes to a high interest in ski vacation in Scandinavia.

GREAT INTEREST IN SCANDINAVIAN MOUNTAIN HOLIDAYS

Comments from the CEO Stefan Sjöstrand: “It is pleasing to see that this year’s increased volume of guests comes from international gusts, who not only increase or sales but also makes us grow across all weeks.”

Strong demand for mountain holidays ahead of the remainder of the 2023/24 winter season, with overnight stays booked through SkiStar up 13 percent on the same time last year.

The five largest ski resorts in Scandinavia, operated by SkiStar, kickstart the ski season ahead of schedule

The cold weather over the past month has created optimal conditions for snow production and snowfall has made the Scandinavian terrain magical. SkiStar's ski resorts Vemdalen and Sälen opened for the season in early November. Next up to open are Åre, Trysil and Hemsedal. SkiStar, the market leader in Scandinavia alpine tourism, expect a long Scandinavian ski season that extends to 1 May.

New this winter at SkiStar: New express lifts, improved snow production and even more dining

Preparations for the 2023/24 winter season are well underway at SkiStar’s destinations in Sweden and Norway. Several important steps have been taken to modernise and improve the ski experience for all ski enthusiasts, including new 6-seater lifts in Sälen and Hemsedal. All destinations will also receive improved snow production to ensure a long and snow-proof winter season.

According to SkiStar statistics, demand for ski holidays in the Scandinavian mountains continues to be high as we head into the 2023/24 winter season. A large part of the increase comes mainly from international guests. And today marks the start of the recruitment process to find 2 500 seasonal staff for SkiStar’s destinations.

Climate change will have a direct and significant impact on SkiStar operations in the future, as white, cold winters are a prerequisite for winter operations. To ensure that efforts to reduce climate impacts are sufficient, climate targets have been developed to meet the objectives of the Paris Agreement, in line with the SBTi methodology, which has now approved the targets.

Summer at SkiStar Vemdalen and Åre: New climbing park, trail biking and Åreskutan 360

Preparations are now underway to get Vemdalen and Åre ready for the summer season, which opens in June with new mountain experiences. Both destinations have a long history of year-round tourism, and this year SkiStar’s offer will be expanded as Vemdalen gets its first climbing park and trail biking with machine-dug cycle trails down Vemdalsskalet.

Interest in spending the Christmas holidays in the Scandinavian mountains at SkiStar’s destinations has been exceptionally high again this winter. The cold spell in December meant SkiStar was able to produce plenty of excellent snow, promising a long and snow-filled winter season. Winter Premieres at SkiStar in Sweden and Norway – Ready with Good Snow Conditions and Sustainability

Thanks to recent cold weather, which has provided good conditions for snow-making, all of SkiStar's destinations can now welcome all ski enthusiasts to the opening of the season. Vemdalen opened on 26 November, Sälen and Trysil will open on 2 December and Åre and Hemsedal will be ready to open on 8 December. Winter has come to stay, and with it comes with skiing.

The winter season will soon be here again and there are lots of new developments at all of SkiStar’s destinations for young and old alike.
