As winter transitions to spring, SkiStar, the leading Scandinavian ski resort operator, concludes an extraordinary ski season characterized by remarkable achievements and significant growth. Over the past six months, the five Scandinavian ski resorts have served as a haven for numerous families and skiing aficionados.
The cold weather over the past month has created optimal conditions for snow production and snowfall has made the Scandinavian terrain magical. SkiStar's ski resorts Vemdalen and Sälen opened for the season in early November. Next up to open are Åre, Trysil and Hemsedal. SkiStar, the market leader in Scandinavia alpine tourism, expect a long Scandinavian ski season that extends to 1 May.

Preparations are now underway to get Vemdalen and Åre ready for the summer season, which opens in June with new mountain experiences. Both destinations have a long history of year-round tourism, and this year SkiStar’s offer will be expanded as Vemdalen gets its first climbing park and trail biking with machine-dug cycle trails down Vemdalsskalet.
The winter season is over and preparations are underway to fully complete SkiStar Sälen for the summer season with new mountain experiences for active relaxation at the destination. Summer skiing opened today at Stockholm Hammarbybacken, Sweden's first modern alpine skiing arena with artificial grass. The SummerSki venture is an important milestone in the company's move towards year-round activities, which can now also be enjoyed in the middle of the capital. As part of SkiStar's work to consolidate its position as the leading holiday tour operator for Scandinavia, the company is now taking a new approach to hotel development in the Scandinavian mountains. SkiStar will operate six lodges and hotels at the company's destinations. The investment is made possible by increasing the pace of real estate development as the company has today agreed with Peab.
On 2 May, the last two of SkiStar’s destinations, Åre in Sweden and Hemsedal in Norway, closed for the winter season, a season which was historic in many ways as the company succeeded in staying open all winter, offering a total of 150 days of skiing. The focus has been on the safety of all guests, employees and residents of the ski resorts, along with good snow conditions and good service.
The strong trend in Scandinavia of active mountain holidays all year round with family and friends is here to stay. To strengthen its position as the leading holiday tour operator for Scandinavia, SkiStar has decided to sell its shares as majority owner of the ski resort St. Johann in Tirol in Austria. The buyer is the Austrian family company Schultz Gruppe, which operates several ski resorts.
Half-Year Report September 2020-February 2021: High demand in Sweden and hopes for a good, long winter season in Scandinavia with ski resorts open. Continuing challenges in Norway with its strict entry and quarantine rules in response to the coronavirus, resulting in a loss of foreign guests, which in turn has a negative effect on earnings.
Pontus Frithiof and Nordrest will be setting up in northern Sweden for the first time, as the two restaurants open at SkiStar's new resort, SkiStar Lodge Hundfjället, in Sälen. The two restaurants will have different concepts and specialities, but they will offer something for everyone with a focus on sustainability – good and well-prepared food based on locally produced ingredients.
