As winter transitions to spring, SkiStar, the leading Scandinavian ski resort operator, concludes an extraordinary ski season characterized by remarkable achievements and significant growth. The cold weather over the past month has created optimal conditions for snow production and snowfall has made the Scandinavian terrain magical. SkiStar's ski resorts Vemdalen and Sälen opened for the season in early November. Next up to open are Åre, Trysil and Hemsedal. SkiStar, the market leader in Scandinavia alpine tourism, expect a long Scandinavian ski season that extends to 1 May.

On 2 May, the last two of SkiStar’s destinations, Åre in Sweden and Hemsedal in Norway, closed for the winter season, a season which was historic in many ways as the company succeeded in staying open all winter, offering a total of 150 days of skiing. The focus has been on the safety of all guests, employees and residents of the ski resorts, along with good snow conditions and good service.

To strengthen its position as the leading holiday tour operator for Scandinavia, SkiStar has decided to sell its shares as majority owner of the ski resort St. Johann in Tirol in Austria. The buyer is the Austrian family company Schultz Gruppe, which operates several ski resorts.

Pontus Frithiof and Nordrest will be setting up in northern Sweden for the first time, as the two restaurants open at SkiStar's new resort, SkiStar Lodge Hundfjället, in Sälen. The two restaurants will have different concepts and specialities, but they will offer something for everyone with a focus on sustainability – good and well-prepared food based on locally produced ingredients.
