SkiStar St. Johann: Better comfort and access with new gondola and chairlift

SkiStar St. Johann looks back on a successful winter season and is full of struggles for the future. Last year's investment in the expansion and quality increase has already had a very positive impact. The reorientation towards families continues to be the focus of further development and investment.

Less than a year ago, SkiStar became a majority shareholder in St. Johann in the Austrian Tyrol. With an investment budget of more than EUR 17 million for the coming winter, a new cable car and the expansion of artificial snow making system will be realized at the Eichenhof. In addition, a six-seater chairlift is planned to provide even better comfort for the skier.

- With St. Johann we have found a very good ski resort to establish SkiStar in the Alps. The investment will increase the offer for families, beginners and intermediate skiers, who want to enjoy skiing, surrounded by a wonderful panorama of the Alps, says Mats Årjes, CEO SkiStar AB.

Start of construction for the new lift at the Eichenhof

The preliminary work for the construction on June 19, 2017 for the new gondola lift at the Eichenhof is already in full progress after the national authority gave the building permission. In the middle of June the construction work on the bottom station will start. The cableway is supplied by the company Leitner from Sterzing in South Tyrol and offers the guests the most modern comfort for their ski experience.

- It starts a strenuous, but exciting time, and it is after all a great pleasure for us to build the new lift at the Eichenhof. In addition to increasing snow safety, this is a major step towards the further development of the ski area, CEO Manfred Bader and chairman of the supervisory board, Stefan Seiwald, are in agreement.

The new gondola lift will lead from the existing Eichenhof bottom station to the Grander-Schupf after the original project has been re-planned. On a length of 960 m, a total of 24 gondolas can bring up to 1800 people per hour into the ski area. The modern bottom station offers a comfortable access to the gondolas, which are each designed for 10 persons.
