SkiStar, the leading holiday organiser for Scandinavia, is taking a significant step in its transition to a fossil-free operation by testing complete electrification of a ski resort. The unique pilot project is being conducted at SkiStar's ski resort in Stockholm, Hammarbybacken. This marks a crucial milestone for the company towards its sustainability goal for 2030.

The cold weather over the past month has created optimal conditions for snow production and snowfall has made the Scandinavian terrain magical. SkiStar's ski resorts Vemdalen and Sälen opened for the season in early November. Next up to open are Åre, Trysil and Hemsedal. Summer skiing opened today at Stockholm Hammarbybacken, Sweden's first modern alpine skiing arena with artificial grass. The SummerSki venture is an important milestone in the company's move towards year-round activities, which can now also be enjoyed in the middle of the capital. First to try out the slope at the launch was none other than World Cup skier Kristoffer Jakobsen.
