New chairlift in St. Johann for memorable skiing experiences

The last step to install the 6-seater chairlift at the Eichenhof is done. The authorities gave green light for the start of the construction. The improvement of the Eichenhof region to a family-friendly access into the ski area is now on the way. Modern comfortable lifts guarantee memorable skiing experiences.

On Thursday, 17th of August 2017, the ropeway authorities issued the building permit for the chairlift at the Eichenhof. The lift is the connection to the new cable car 10EUB Eichenhof and leads from the restaurant Grander Schupf to the former top station of the T-bar lift Eichenhof 2.

- It is necessary to ensure a comfortable connection to the cable car Eichenhof. The time frame for the construction of the lift is tight, but realistic. It requires an exact coordination and full power of the team and partners, explains Manfred Bader, CEO SkiStar St. Johann.

Technology Upgrade

On a length of 1.630 m, with a height difference of 445 m, 55 comfortable 6-seater chairs bring the skiers to the top. The lift is built and installed by the company Leitner from Sterzing in South Tyrol. At a speed of 6 m/s, up to 2,400 persons per hour can be transported.

- The 6-seater chairlift is state-of-the-art. The slopes at the Eichenhof around this lift are the best ones in the ski area and it is a pleasure for us to offer our guests a comfortable ascent in the future, says Markus Fankhauser, engineering and construction site manager.

Since May 2017 other improvements are already in construction at the Eichenhof, like the extension of the snow system with a new reservoir and snowmaking for the Sportiv-slope, and the new cable car 10EUB Eichenhof on the base of the Eichenhof area. Additionally the parking lots around the bottom station will be enlarged.

Family-friendly St. Johann

SkiStar’s vision is making the ski resort of St. Johann to the most family-friendly one. The improvement of the Eichenhof-lifts is an important step in this direction. The cable car will allow children and beginners, as well as the ski schools, an uncomplicated and very comfortable access into the ski area.

All ski schools of the ski resort will work the next winter with Valle, the snowman, to excite the children for skiing. Valles ski schools guarantee top quality and best care for the children. The weekly program with the beloved snowman does not leave anybody bored.
