Top freeskier and Olympic medallist Jesper Tjäder is to join SkiStar's national team and become one of the company's ambassadors. Jesper's main responsibility will be to jointly develop SkiStar Snow Parks under the "SkiStar Snow Park by Jesper Tjäder" at SkiStar's mountain destinations for all ages and levels already under construction in the new Stockholm Hammarbybacken.

As of 19 December 2021, Dutch company BBI Travel is relaunching its flights from Groningen Eelde Airport to Scandinavian Mountains Airport. The Dutch can return to SkiStar's Scandinavian ski resorts on Thursday and Sunday every week, giving them a more efficient and faster journey.

Scandinavia's newest express lift will be making its debut this winter, while a new accommodation concept and a brand new international airport will be opening within a few years and making the resort completely unique. Comments from the CEO Mats Årjes: With winter behind us, we are once again able to present the best nine-month results in SkiStar’s history. As we look back on the season, we have been able to offer our guests fantastic skiing at all our destinations from when the season began in December right through to its end.
Winter arrived early this season – the cold and snow have continued, which led to SkiStar’s resorts being in full operation for essentially the entire period. This is the underlying reason that SkiStar can present the best half-year results in its history.
SkiStar has developed its new digital platforms with a focus on customer requests, simplicity and inspiration. From a 360 perspective, the entire customer journey is covered, from idea to booking and stay at a SkiStar ski resort. The goal of the development is to make it easier for the customer to find information and book, whether it happens on a computer, an iPad or a mobile device.
The development of the ski area in Hundfjället, Sälen, located less than 10 minutes from the new Scandinavian Mountains Airport, which is under construction, is a step towards an international ski resort, with Scandinavia's most modern 8-seater express chairlift, new ski runs and expanded snow-making facilities.
The title sponsorship of the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships in Åre 2019 puts SkiStar in the ideal position to acquire new guests. The exposure involved will give SkiStar the perfect communication platform with access to the entire European market.
Comments from the CEO Mats Årjes: Winter has arrived at our destinations and from week 49, all our ski resorts have opened for the season with good snow conditions. In addition to a covering of natural snow, the conditions for snow production have been good. Bookings, expressed as the number of overnight stays, are 2 percent higher than at the same point in the previous year.

SkiStars famous and popular children’s character Valle the snowman was already in his first winter in St. Johann a success for families who visited St. Johann. Now in the second winter Valle will introduce his unique ski school. Valle’s ski school teaches all kids from 3 to 9 years how to ski and to be safe and secure skiers with educated ski instructors from St. Johann’s local ski schools.
The last step to install the 6-seater chairlift at the Eichenhof is done. The authorities gave green light for the start of the construction. The improvement of the Eichenhof region to a family-friendly access into the ski area is now on the way. Modern comfortable lifts guarantee memorable skiing experiences.
After an early start to the season, with cold weather and snow in November and an unusually mild December, business gained momentum from the Christmas and New Year holidays. SkiStar St. Johann looks back on a successful winter season and is full of struggles for the future. Last year's investment in the expansion and quality increase has already had a very positive impact. The reorientation towards families continues to be the focus of further development and investment.
Throughout the winter it's been possible to fly direct from London Gatwick to Åre/Östersund Airport with easyJet, and then reach Åre and Vemdalen by direct transfer. This increased accessibility for Londoners via easyJet's direct line, combined with the fact that more Britons are travelling to the resorts via a Stockholm to Åre/Östersund flights, have led to an upturn in ski tourism from the UK.
In December, 100 new state-of-the-art apartments in a perfect location close to the ski slope in Hemsedal will be ready to receive their first guests. In addition to high-class apartments, SkiStar Lodge Hemsedal Suites also offers family apartments with a design featuring SkiStar's popular children's character, a large climbing wall for older children, as well as a restaurant and bar.
